Calico aster is a dainty flowering plant with small, pointed, glossy leaves that often bloom in the summer. It is usually found along roadsides, near forest edges, and in meadows. This flower is also called Starved Aster, and in the fall, it is often nicknamed "Lady in Black" because its leaves turn a deep purple color.
